  • Take exit 167, Mercer Street/Seattle Center.

  • Turn left onto Fairview Avenue North and turn right onto Republican Street.

  • Proceed 4 blocks west to the South Lake Union complex.

  • Look for signage indicating "UW Medicine Research."

Parking

​

South Lake Union (SLU) garages: The entrances to both garages is on Republican Street. Parking in the SLU garages is free with a UW parking pass. Commuter tickets are also accepted. For those without a pass, hourly and daily rates are offered (payment by Visa/MasterCard only). The garage elevator will take you directly to the reception desk (opens onto the lobby) NOTE: You will need to have your ticket validated/paid at the reception desk in order to exit the garage (the arm at the exit will not raise without it).

Street parking: available on 8th & 9th Avenues or in the hourly lots on the east side of 9th Avenue.

By Public Transit

​

The SLU complex is served by two shuttles, both stopping on Republican Street. The UWMC – SLU shuttle runs between UW Medical Center, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and SLU; The HMC – SLU shuttle runs between Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital Research Institute (9th & Stewart) and SLU. The UW SLU campus is served by Metro Transit bus routes 17, 26 and 28. Plan your trip using the King County Metro Trip Planner.

Visit the TRU at

UW Medical Center

Most of our clinical trial patients are seen in the Translational Research Unit (TRU) at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

​

The TRU is located in the South Tower (Pacific Elevators) of the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Once inside the UWMC, look for signs to the Pacific Elevators and take the elevator to the seventh floor. Exit to the right and take a second right.

​

You will see the Translational Research Unit sign and reception desk, where you can check in.

By Car

​

From SeaTac:

​

  • Merge onto WA-518 E toward I-5/Seattle/Tacoma/I-405.

  • Merge onto I-5 N via the exit on the left toward Seattle.

  • Take Exit #168B toward Bellevue/Kirkland onto WA-520 E.

  • Take the first exit off WA-520 to Montlake Boulevard.

  • Turn left onto Montlake Blvd E. and continue north.

  • When at the first traffic light after the bridge, turn left onto NE Pacific Street and stay to your right.

  • Turn right at the second "hospital parking" directional sign onto NE Pacific Place.

  • Then immediately turn right again into the entrance (Gate #4 on the map) to the Triangle Parking Garage, an underground facility connected via a pedestrian tunnel to the medical center.

From Interstate 5:

​

  • Take Exit #168B toward Bellevue/Kirkland onto WA-520 E.

  • Take the first exit off WA-520 to Montlake Boulevard.

  • Turn left onto Montlake Blvd E. and continue north.

  • When at the first traffic light after the bridge, turn left onto NE Pacific Street and stay to your right.

  • Turn right at the second "hospital parking" directional sign onto NE Pacific Place.

  • Then immediately turn right again into the entrance (Gate #4 on the map) to the Triangle Parking Garage, an underground facility connected via a pedestrian tunnel to the medical center.

  • From the east via State Route 520 westbound:

  • Take the Montlake Boulevard exit.

  • Continue north on Montlake Blvd. and cross the drawbridge.

  • When at the first traffic light after the bridge, turn left onto NE Pacific Street and stay to your right.

  • Turn right at the second "hospital parking" directional sign onto NE Pacific Place.

  • Then immediately turn right again into the entrance (Gate #4 on the map) to the Triangle Parking Garage, an underground facility connected via a pedestrian tunnel to the medical center.

  • Once in the Triangle Garage:

  • Upon entering the garage, take a parking ticket from the parking gate.

  • Bring the ticket to your appointment.

  • We will provide you with a parking validation sticker.

  • You will give the ticket to the cashier upon exiting the garage.

  • Follow signs to the Main Medical Center. You will enter the Medical Center on the third floor.

  • Take the Pacific Tower Elevators to floor 7.

  • Exit to the right off the elevators and take an immediate right down the hall toward the Translational Research Unit.

By Public Transit

​

Seattle is very friendly to those without a car. If you are coming from the airport you most likely will want to take a cab, the Sound Transit train or the bus.

​

The options will be varied; you can plan your trip using the King County Metro Trip Planner as well as the Sound Transit Trip Planner.
