Dr. Shen received a B.S. In Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his MD and PhD from NYU Grossman School of Medicine where he performed his thesis work in Jef Boeke's lab studying synthetic biology in the brewer's yeast S. cerevisiae. He completed an internal medicine residency at NYU/Bellevue Hospital and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Currently he is an assistant professor at Fred Hutch/University of Washington where he sees patients in the GI Cancer Prevention clinic and Gastroenterology clinic. He is excited to apply his background in DNA-building to better understand and mitigate cancer risk, particularly in patients with an inherited predisposition to cancer syndromes. Outside of work, he enjoys road running, travel, and brewing a great cup of coffee.
